About

Deep bass, jacking beats, and catchy hooks are the inspirations that drive Howl Sound in Vancouver’s underground music scene. Howl Sound is the result of a long time friendship between fellow DJs U-Tee and Sean 314. Apart, both members are linked to Intimate Productions and 314 Mixtapes, having shared the stage with artists such as J-Phlip/ Addison Groove/ XXXY/ Doctor Jeep/ Distal/ Hesk/ Detroit Swindle along with many others.

After years of playing apart, the members quickly fomed a strong bond sharing the stage, and it felt only natural to take their chemistry out from behind the decks and apply it to their own productions. Releasing their first track in late 2012, “Minimal Shuffle” gained the attention of local favorites leading to their first label release on Home Breakin’ Records, a remix of “Make It Better” for the duo Clyphs. Howl Sound released their debut EP titled “We’re Here” in late summer of 2013, a combination of upbeat house music that also draws from tech and bass influences. For their EP set to release in early 2014 titled “Minds”, Howl Sound changed focus to highlight their love of acid and analog techno.

Known for their energetic DJ sets, 2013 saw the creation of the live show. Combining elements of DJing and a complicated MIDI setup to play all of their original material, they continue to challenge themselves as performers. Recently teaming up with Some Kind of Music Blog, the group is curating a radio show on DE Radio titled “Tune In, Space Out”, highlighting music from both parties and mixed by Howl Sound. The boys are known for playing anything deep and groovy, melding house, techno and bass music with ease while always staying fresh and having fun.
